National men’s football team Harambee Stars is set to play a four nations tournament from June 8 in Mauritius during the Fifa international window.
This was announced today by Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa who said the tournament would help the national team coach Engin Firat identify players’ strengths as he prepares the team for next year’s World Cup qualifiers.
“We have just signed a contract to play in the 10-day four-nations tournament in Mauritius from June 8. Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat will name his squad soon to start preparation for the tournament. we also plan to play several high-profile friendly matches in Europe and the Middle East near future to prepare our players well,” Mwendwa told Media Guru.
Kenya will face hosts Mauritius, Pakistan, and Djibouti in the tournament.” Despite being locked out of Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers due to the Fifa suspension last year, we want to make good use of the time we have to prepare a formidable side,” he added.
