Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos will face off with the County’s Senator Kipchumba Murkomen for the Senate set come August 9.
Tolgos a second term Governor was yesterday cleared by the Jubilee Party to vie for the seat after he received a nomination certificate from the party’s Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni at the Jubilee Headquarters in Nairobi.
The entry of Tolgos in the race complicates matters for Murkomen who had initially been tipped to smoothly sail through for a third term after receiving the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
Tolgos 41, has had a love-hate relationship with Murkomen in the County for the last 10 years and this latest move will just heighten the tensions in the two camps.
