Tiger traffic fc wins Kshs 200,000 in PS Ismail Tournament finals in Elwak, Mandera county

The Phase 1 finals of the PS Ismail Tournament, a youth-focused football initiative, concluded successfully in Elwak, Mandera South Sub-County, with Tiger Traffic FC defeating White City FC 3-1 in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw, securing both the trophy and a cash prize of Ksh 200,000.

White City FC, the first runners-up, walked away with Ksh 100,000, while Bula Dana FC secured Ksh 50,000 as the second runners-up. Individual accolades were also awarded, with Abdiaahid Karo winning Ksh 10,000 for being the top scorer, Abdihamid Carloz also receiving Ksh 10,000 as the best player, and Lewi from White City FC earning Ksh 5,000 for being the tournament’s best goalkeeper.

The tournament, which aims to provide positive and engaging activities for the youth during their school holidays, will continue over the weekend in two more sub-counties, Mandera West and Banisa. With Mandera South’s finals concluded, the remaining sub-counties will host their own competitions, fueling local excitement as teams compete for top honors.

Speaking at the event, PS Ismail Maalim emphasized the tournament’s role in keeping young people occupied and away from risky behaviors such as drug abuse and delinquency. “This tournament is about more than football; it’s about giving our youth constructive outlets and opportunities to shine,” he said.

A total of 66 clubs participated across the three sub-counties in the first phase, with the second phase set to take place during the December holiday, targeting Mandera East, Mandera North, and Lafey sub-counties.

Among the dignitaries present were area MPs Abdul Haro Ibrahim (Mandera South) and Adan Haji (Mandera West), along with MCAs and other community leaders.
