Seven Star Wiyeta of Trans Nzoia whitewash Mogotio of Baringo 7-0

National secondary schools girls soccer champions Wiyeta of Trans Nzoia County yesterday crushed Mogotio of Baringo 7-0 to enhance its chances of retaining the regional title.

The Rift Valley Secondary Schools Term two regional ball games’ match played at the Nyahururu stadium saw the winners lead 3-0 at half time.

Wiyeta netted four goals in the second half after the Baringo side appeared to tire.

Wiyeta coach, Edgar Manyara said his team is not in tiptop form due to injury of three key players.

“The injury problem is forcing us to change team formation,” he said after the game.

In another girls’ match played at the same venue, Falling Waters of Laikipia beat Nyiro of Samburu 5-0. Falling Waters led 2-0 at breather before adding three goals in the second half.

The Falling Water coach Emman Gullit Wafula said all players of the Nyahururu based team are in perfect shape.

Wiyeta and Falling Waters had drawn 0-0 in their Group D opening match played on Wednesday afternoon.

Mogotio also beat Nyiro 2-0 on Wednesday, a win that puts the Baringo side on equal points with Wiyeta and Falling Waters in the four-team Group D pool.

The boys’ regional defending champions, Kabarnet of Baringo registered their second win after beating Sondu of Kericho 5-0 at the Ndururumo high school ground yesterday to go top of Group A pool. On Wednesday, the team had narrowly beaten Uasin Gishu’s Mwiruti 1-0.

Mwiruti recovered yesterday to beat Loima of Turkana County 4-1.

Other boys results are; Marakwet Boys 5 Kaplong (Bomet) 0, Chemase (Nandi) 1 Kamito (West Pokot) 0, Ol Moran (Laikipia) 0 Girgir (Samburu) 0, Loima 0 Kabarnet 3, Mwiruti 1 Sondu 0, Kaplong 1 Menengai (Nakuru) 0, Christ King (Kajiado)  0 St Anthony (Trans Nzoia 1,  Ol Moran 1 Chemase 0, Kamito 8 Girgir 0. Other girls’ results are; Moi Girls (Uasin Gishu) 0 Itigo (Nandi) 2.
