Former National Intelligence Service (NIS) director, Alexander Oyolo was laid to rest in his Nangina residence, Samia Sub County on Tuesday during the burial that saw politicians denied a chance to address mourners by Bishop Mark Kadima of the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma.
Leaders present included Busia Deputy Governor, Arthur Odera, former Governor, Sospeter Ojaamong, former Vice President Moody Awori among others.
Only family members and colleagues of the deceased were allowed to deliver their condolence messages between 8 and 10am at Alema village named after the late Alexander and his wife Mary before the church took over.
Former Busia Governor, Sospeter Ojaamong said the catholic church didn’t deny politicians from addressing mourners during the burial of the former NIS director whom he described as a close friend.
” Politicians delivered their condolence messages during the arrival of the body on Easter Monday,” he said noting that it was an arrangement between and leaders the previous day that no speeches will be delivered on burial day.
Bishop Kadima in his sermon that lasted only 10 minutes called for forgiveness among Kenyans noting that it’s the only way of ensuring peace prevails in the country.
Leaders were also denied a chance to address mourners by Father Chris Barasa of the Sirimba Catholic Parish during the burial of Angelina
Onjoro Ngore, 87, at Bubamba village in Bunyala Sub County. She was the son to Fredrick Ngore of Huduma Busia.
Angelina nicknamed Samaki (Fish) was described as a loving mother, grandmother and a great grandmother whose love and great sense of humour will be missed by all those who interacted with her.
